Cricketer Mohammed Shami’s wife filed a charge sheet against him and his brother for dowry and sexual harassment at Alipore court. Kolkata police filed a charge sheet under IPC 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment) based on the complaints by his estranged wife Hasin Jahan. Shami should be present in person before Alipore court on 22 June.

This is not the first time that Hasin Jahan found fault with Mohammed Shami. She has been posting pictures in social media against Shami. On March 8 last year as well Kolkata police registered an FIR against Shami. The BCCI and board’s anti-corruption officials, however, dismissed the case after investigations.

Being a Grade A contract player according to the latest central contracts list, Shami is a crucial pacer for the Indian cricket team. He would be participating in the Indian Premier League from next week onwards for Kings XI Punjab. However, his World Cup participation chances suffered a huge blow due to the case filed by his wife.
