SPECULATION: Tax slab from 2.5 Lakhs to 5 Lakhs. Good News for Middle Class!

In a last minute bid to woe the middle class voters, Government is likely to introduce a convenient tax slab. The Tax slabs which were frequently revised in the UPA term, was left untouched since 2014-15. If reports are correct, this clearly seems to be a step to make middle class happy. The Tax slab revision in the past has been this way:

Year (FY) General Women Above 65 years
2008-09 Rs. 1,50,000 Rs. 1,80,000 Rs. 2,25,000
2009-10 Rs. 1,60,000 Rs. 1,90,000 Rs. 2,40,000
2011-12 Rs. 1,80,000 Rs. 1,90,000 Rs. 2,50,000
2012-13 Rs. 2,00,000 Rs. 2,00,000 Rs. 2,50,000
2014-15 Rs. 2,50,000 Rs. 2,50,000 Rs. 3,00,000

People had been extremely unhappy about how the demonetisation was carried out and implemented. Despite severe backlash, government had not taken any steps to calm down this section of the people. Now, with the speculated Tax Slab revision, it seems to be trying to carrot the middle class.

It would certainly be a good news for the middle class people. This section primarily comprises the employee community who can expect to take-home higher salaries.

It is to be seen if this move can help the government come back to power again.
