This year, India celebrates its 70th Republic Day and Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has not forgotten the roots of the Indian Freedom movement and contribution made by Father of Nation – Mahatma Gandhi.
On the sidelines of G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the invitation to Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa to grace the Indian Republic Day celebrations. South African Prime Minister was glad to accept the invitation. “Bapu’s close link to South Africa is well known: tweeted Mr. Narendra Modi through his twitter handle. Coincidentally, South African also celebrates 100th Birth Anniversary of Nelson Mandela popularly known as “Madiba”.
South African President’s visit on this special occasion, is likely to strengthen India’s ties with South Africa.
